20ft from $27 a week, ex GST. Hire is in this business's name for a reason — a lot of what the valley and the coast need containers for has an end date on it.
Builders on a job with a finish date, and site sheds that follow the work up the highway. Growers on the coastal strip who need lockable storage through picking and want it gone afterwards. Anyone renovating who has to empty a house for eight weeks. Councils and contractors on the highway and bridge work. Event and festival operators through the season. Households between one place and the next.
The pattern is the same in all of them: the need is real, and it is temporary. Buying an asset to solve a temporary problem is how people end up trying to sell a container in a hurry, which is the worst possible time to be selling one.
Under about a year, hire is generally in front. No capital tied up, no disposal question at the end, and the cost sits in operating expenses where a project can carry it.
Past about two years, buying wins clearly, and it wins harder than the raw weekly rate suggests, because a well-bought used container resells for a good share of what you paid. In between is a genuine conversation and it turns on whether the work is contracted or rolling.
We do both, so nobody here has a reason to steer you. Ring with the timeline and we will quote it both ways, including when that points at the option that makes us less money.
Decide which way the doors face before the truck turns up — a hire unit facing the wrong way is a second crane hire to spin. Leave the same access you will need at the end, because we have to get back in to collect it; a fence, a slab or a new garden bed built around a container is a surprisingly common and expensive problem. And do not load it wet and shut it up, especially through summer on the coast, because condensation in a sealed box will do more damage than the weather.
A 20ft starts from $27 a week, ex GST. Delivery and collection are quoted separately because they depend on your address and access. Longer commitments come down; a fortnight on a difficult site does not.
Short. We would rather hire you a box for six weeks than talk you into buying one you will be trying to sell in August. Tell us the end date if you have one and we will price it against buying so you can see both numbers.
Hire units are supplied cargo-worthy — checked wind and watertight before they go out, doors working, floor sound. If something fails during the hire because of the unit rather than the use, that is ours to fix.
Usually, and it is worth asking rather than starting again. If a job that was meant to run three months has turned into two years, ring us — a buy-out on the unit already sitting on your site avoids a second delivery and a second freight bill.
Fair wear is expected. Damage from use — a forklift through a door skin, a cut lock box, water in it because it was loaded wet and shut up for a month — sits with the hirer. We will always look at it and talk about it rather than send an invoice cold.
Tell us the job and the timeline and we will price it hired and bought, so the comparison is yours to make.
Or skip the form entirely.
