A small town on the northern side of the river mouth, reached by a single road in off the highway at Woombah. Iluka is a straightforward place to deliver into once you are there — the whole question is the run, not the site.
What people order for Iluka addresses is generally fishing and boat gear for the working and recreational fleet, storage for holiday properties that sit empty half the year, tools and materials for the trades who service the town, and dry lockable space on blocks where a shed would need approval and a container does not. The job dictates the grade. A workshop conversion and a hay store are not the same purchase, and we would rather say so before you buy than after.

It is worth being direct about this rather than burying it. Iluka is about seventy-five kilometres from the yard by road even though it is a few hundred metres from Yamba across the water. There is no route that avoids that, and any quote you get from anywhere carries the same reality.
What we can do is be honest about it up front and quote the cartage with the container so it is one number rather than a surprise afterwards. And if your delivery can wait for a week when something else is going the same way, that flexibility is worth mentioning when you ring.
A large share of Iluka housing is occupied part of the year, and that creates a specific need: somewhere secure on the property for the things you do not want in the house while nobody is in it, and somewhere the mowing contractor or the caretaker can get to without a key to the front door.
A 20ft with a lock box handles that well. The lock box is the useful part — a steel shroud over the padlock so bolt cutters cannot get a bite on the shackle, which on an unattended property is worth more than any other feature on the container. Load dry, allow some airflow, and it will keep for years.
The defining fact about Iluka deliveries is the approach. You can see Yamba across the water and it is nothing like as close by road — the ferry does not take a loaded container truck, so everything comes up the highway and back in via Woombah on the Iluka Road. That is a genuine run rather than a detour, and it is the honest reason cartage here is a little dearer than the map suggests. Once in the town, delivery is generally easy. The streets are quiet, the blocks are reasonable, and there is usually room to line a truck up. Sand behaves the same way it does at Yamba — fine under a placed container with the load spread, less reliable under a sidelifter's legs. The other worthwhile note is that Iluka is a small town at the end of a long road, so where we can we group deliveries; if your timing is flexible by a week, say so, because it sometimes helps the freight.
Aside from the local conditions it comes down to footing, approach length and headroom. When one of those looks borderline, a photo or two decides it before anyone books a vehicle. Full detail in getting a container onto your block.
No. The ferry does not take a loaded container truck, so delivery comes up the Pacific Highway and in via Woombah on the Iluka Road. It is about seventy-five kilometres from our yard by road, and that is reflected honestly in the cartage figure.
It is dearer than Yamba because of the road distance, and there is no way around that. It is quoted with the container so you see one delivered number. If your timing is flexible we will group it with another run down that way where we can.
