Nominal figures. Builders and build years differ by a few millimetres, so for a tight fit measure the actual container in the yard rather than trusting a table.
Doorway height, not inside height. A standard box gives you 2.39m of ceiling but only about 2.28m through the doors. Tractors with a cab, boats on a trailer and pallet racking are usually stopped by the doorway, not the room inside.
Width is tight for vehicles. At 2.35m inside, a car or ute goes in, but you will be climbing out over the tray or the boot. Plan for storage you can walk past, not a garage you can open doors in.
The high cube's extra 300mm. That height is what turns a store into a workshop or office where an adult stands with room for lights and a lined ceiling. If lining is on the cards, start on the high cube page.
Think in floor space you can actually use. A 20ft floor is about 13.8m²; keep a walkway clear from the doors and you are filling closer to 11m². Shelving down one wall takes another strip. If the list includes furniture, a ride-on mower and a season of feed, measure it against a 40ft before deciding.
