Yamba has a particular version of the storage question that inland towns do not. Furniture, linen, outdoor settings and equipment for properties that switch between letting and owner use, gear that comes out for the season and goes away again, and businesses whose stock volume triples over summer. All of it wants to be lockable, dry and close by rather than in a facility an hour away.
A 20ft on the property handles it and costs less over three years than a storage unit does over one. For anything genuinely seasonal, hire is worth pricing against purchase — the numbers are on the hire page, and the answer usually turns on whether the need repeats every year or ends.
Rain is not what damages stored goods on this coast. Condensation is. A sealed steel box gets warm through the day and cools sharply at night, and if there is moisture in what you loaded — damp canvas, a boat cover put away wet, anything with water still in it — that moisture ends up on the ceiling and comes back down on your gear.
Three things fix it and none of them cost much. Load dry. Allow some airflow if the contents will tolerate it, or fit vents if they will not. And raise things off the floor. A container that seals properly and is loaded carelessly will do more damage than one that leaks slightly and is loaded well.
Sand is the headline. Yamba sits on it, and it carries a car perfectly happily while giving way under a concentrated load — which matters most when a sidelifter is trying to stand on four pads to place a 40ft. Plates or timber under the legs solve most of it; occasionally the honest answer is that a 40ft cannot go exactly where you want it and a pair of 20fts can. The second constraint is the older beachside streets near the point and the main beach, which have narrow frontages, on-street parking and limited turning room, and where a crane truck is often the sensible vehicle rather than the expensive one. The newer estates on the western side are the easy end: wide entries, level pads, room to line up. Salt air applies everywhere here and it does not eat a sound container, but it finds bare steel fast, so touch up scrapes and drilled holes rather than leaving them.

A placed container spreads its weight over four corner castings and generally sits fine, particularly with pavers under each casting rather than a single block. The bigger risk is uneven settlement over the first wet month, which puts a container out of square and stops the doors meeting. Spread the load and check it with a level.
